On Monday 19 November 2018, His Honour Judge Marc Jaeger from Luxembourg, President General Court of the EU, held a lecture with Sir Francis Jacobs, KCMG, QC, Professor, King’s College London in the Chair.

In the context of a rising demand for transparency from public institutions, along with technological developments and fast flow of information, EU courts are increasingly expected both to account for their activity and to strengthen their efficiency.

The development in Europe of mechanisms that implement judicial accountability, calls to reflect on how this can contribute to the quality, efficiency and independence of justice and on how the EU judiciary can benefit from it.
