Fitch confirms Luxembourg’s AAA rating with stable outlook

Published Tuesday January 20 2015

On 16 January 2015, the ratings agency Fitch confirmed Luxembourg’s AAA rating with stable outlook. Luxembourg has been given the highest credit rating from the agencies S&P, Moody’s and Fitch.

Fitch noted in particular the country’s favourable economic trends, with Luxembourg’s economy having benefited from a higher rate of growth than the average growth experienced in the Eurozone as a whole.

The rating agency’s analysis shows that Luxembourg’s financial centre maintains a comparative advantage over other financial centres. Fitch shares the view that the exchange of tax-related information is unlikely to have negative effects on the development of assets managed in Luxembourg.

Pierre Gramegna, Minister of Finance, stated: “I am delighted with this new confirmation of the effectiveness of measures taken by the government for the repositioning of our financial centre and the consolidation of our public finances. The AAA rating is a guarantee of stability and confidence in the Luxembourg economy. It guarantees the country’s attractiveness to investors and the creation of new jobs.”
