Inauguration of the Luxembourg Freeport
On September 17th, 2014 Luxembourg’s Freeport was inaugurated in the presence of H.R.H. the Grand-Duke as well as members of the Government. The new Freeport offers storage facilities and safes of various sizes to store in optimal security and preservation conditions the works of art, precious metals, wines, antiques, jewels, documents and other valuables [ … ]
Situated next to the Cargo centre at the Findel airport, which is the 5th largest air cargo hub in Europe, the Freeport offers a direct access to the tarmac as well as sic lorry docking platforms.
The art collector and major investor Yves Bouvier said on the occasion of the grand opening that “we haven’t simply imported the successfully implemented business models in Geneva and Singapore, but have adapted them significantly to today’s requirements of the globalised world of art”. For Luxembourg’s Deputy Prime minister and Minister of Economy, Etienne Schneider, the Freeport significantly contributes to the diversification of the countries’ economy enriching and supplementing its logistics sector as well as the Financial Centre.
