Jean Asselborn meets British Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond
On Monday, 20 April 2015, Jean Asselborn, Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, met his British counterpart, Philip Hammond, during his visit to Luxembourg.
The discussions focused on the good bilateral relations which exist between the two countries, both at a political level and at an economic one. The Ministers then looked at the preparations for Luxembourg’s upcoming presidency of the Council of the EU. They also exchanged views on the various political priorities which the Council should tackle as well as examining other European and international issues. In addition, Minister Asselborn and Foreign Secretary Hammond discussed the current political situation in the UK in the context of the upcoming British parliamentary elections and exchanged views on the UK’s role within the EU.
