On 27 October 2015, Prime Minister Xavier Bettel paid a working visit to London.
The Prime Minister met his British counterpart, David Cameron, for talks at 10 Downing Street on bilateral relations, current European and international issues, and recent developments regarding the migration crisis.
The Prime Minister also gave a speech at the London School of Economics. During his speech, entitled “Europe 2.0: The new challenges of the European Union,” Xavier Bettel stressed that the European Union has overcome crises since its creation and that the EU will also overcome the current crisis. It is important to remember the fundamental values of the EU, such as solidarity and tolerance. The Prime Minister also stated: “On the other hand, it is also clear that the EU needs to be reformed. We must facilitate procedures and reduce bureaucracy. I am ready to discuss reforms which will make the EU less complicated and more efficient.”
