Concert “Transcendence” by JEAN MULLER at Cadogan Hall on 27 October 2014
The Luxembourg pianist Jean Muller will play the “Études d’exécution transcendante d’après Paganini” as well as the “Mephisto Waltz No. 1” by Franz Liszt.
Liszt’s repertoire is dear to Jean Muller who has already recorded twice the famous Sonata in B minor and a celebrated Liszt Recital CD; the Transcendence project is the culmination of 20 years’ work that began as a child with the dream of playing these masterpieces one day. Anxious to transcend the purely technical aspect of these studies, Jean Muller develops interpretations based on intensity and, in addition to the Études, presents Mephisto Waltz No. 1 in Vladimir Horowitz’s dazzling version.
‘A major talent.’ (Bryce Morrison, Gramophone)
‘Juice and Power.’ (Ingo Harden, Fono Forum)
‘A truly superb pianist.’ (Philippe van den Bosch, Classica)
