Luxembourgish Taster Class and lecture at Europe House
The Luxembourg Embassy co-organised, together with the European Commission Representation in the UK and the Centre for Luxembourg Studies at the University of Sheffield, a Luxembourg language taster class which was held at Europe House on 16 December 2015. Following opening remarks by the Head of Representation, Ms Jacqueline Minor, and the Deputy Head of the Luxembourg Embassy, Mr Jean Claude Kugener, a lecture on the sociolinguistics of Luxembourg was given by Dr Kristine Horner, Director of the Centre for Luxembourg Studies at the University of Sheffield.
More than 80 Participants were then able to take part in a Luxembourg wine-tasting session before Dr Horner and Ms Sarah Muller, a scholar at the University of Sheffield, gave a lesson in basic Luxembourgish.
